Team Russia was dominating international hockey arenas
through many years. Russian team was called "Red Machine" for
its perfect techniques, strength, intellect and speed. Team Russia is most
titled team in hockey history, it has 25 gold medals (World Championships
+ Olympics), while Team Canada (second in the World) has 14 gold medals.
Russia do still have great team , though , and many of their players are
superstars in the NHL. Especially the Detroit Red Wings has been known as
the "Russian Club" over the last few years with players like
Sergei Fedorov , Slava Kozlov, Vladi Konstantinov and the old wizards
Slava Fetisov and Igor Larionov. The silver medals during the 1998 Olympics
is their last achievement since 1993 World gold. The last World
Championships was a dissapointment to them . It will be interesting to see
what this entertaining team will produce this time around .To the pleasure
of fans everywhere they are still known for playing some picturebookhockey.
Other great profiles to watch out for are Pavel Bure, Viktor Kozlov
(Florida Panthers) ,Alexei Gusarov , Valeri Kamensky (Colorado Avalanche)
and Sergei Samsonov (Boston Bruins), Alexey Kovalev, German Titov, Alexey
Morozov (Pittsburg Penguins), Alexey Yashin, Igor Kravchuk (Ottawa
Senators) to name only a very few. I'm sure it will be another gold medals
for this fabulous hockey-nation. |
